Passing of Justice Sheila Abdus-Salaam

Heartbroken by the Sudden Passing of Sister Justice Sheila Abdus-Salaam.

It is with great sadness that we relay the untimely passing of Sister Sheila Abdus-Salaam, '74BC '77 Law, Associate Judge of the New York Court of Appeals. She was found Wednesday, April 12th not far from her home in Harlem, and not far from the University she loved.

Justice Abdus-Salaam was the first Muslim judge appointed to New York's highest court. She was also a loving person, considerate friend, loyal alumna and tireless fighter for justice.

See the New York Times article announcing her passing.

Sadness and shock. So many questions, but most important, so much love in tribute to a beautiful black woman.
