Congrats to Roxann Smithers, 2015 Alumni Medalist!


Congratulations to BAC member Roxann Sherri Smithers, Esq.’99CC,’02LAW on her 2015 Alumni Medal!

Roxann Sherri Smithers, a native of Akron, Ohio, has been on the board of the Columbia Club of Atlanta since 2002 and served as president since 2007. Roxann is on the CAA Board and chairs the Associations and Clubs Committee. She is on the CCAA Board, a member of its Power Network Committee and served on the 2012-2013 Taskforce for Alumni Engagement. Roxann is a member of the CLS Alumni Association. Roxann rounds out her alumni engagement as a member of the ARC and the BAC (2007 BAC Graduation Keynote Speaker). While at Columbia, Roxann was a Kluge Scholar and received the Houghton Room Prize and Alumni Award. She was President of the Black Students Organization, a member of the Students of Color Leadership Committee, and the Black Law Students Association. Roxann worked in the Center for Career Education and Student Enterprises (the New York Times Agency). Roxann resides in Atlanta, Georgia where she founded Smithers Thornton & Ume-Nwagbo, LLC, a full service firm for start-up, small, and mid-size companies. She was named a Super Lawyers Magazine Georgia Rising Star in 2012, 2014, 2015. Roxann chairs Children’s Burial Assistance, Inc., was a Trustee of Providence Missionary Baptist Church, and is on the Board of Governors of the City Club of Buckhead.
